Around 4:00 AM, a driver was making a left-hand turn when another vehicle clipped the back corner of the truck. While damage to the distributor’s vehicle was minimal, without video evidence, the other driver could have easily placed blame on their driver, turning this into a lengthy and expensive claim.

Thankfully, the distributor had begun installing a 360-degree camera system (front, driver-side, passenger-side, and rear-facing cameras). At the time of the incident, the setup was not yet fully complete, so the rear footage was slightly blurry. Still, when paired with the driver-side view, it clearly showed:

  • The driver making a proper left-hand turn.
  • The other vehicle failed to switch lanes or slow down, ultimately striking the rear of the truck.

Because the team was able to pull the footage immediately, they were able to deny liability right away – avoiding what could have turned into an expensive attorney-driven claim.

Why was it a win?

  • Without footage, they likely would have spent far more time and money fighting an open claim, even though the truck damage was minimal.
  • With video evidence:
    • The distributor proved their driver was not at fault.
    • The claim was closed quickly before legal fees could pile up.

Cost-Effective Implementation

The distributor’s president helped save significant money by hiring his own install crew to mount the cameras on their vehicles. To help other fleets replicate their setup, he also has a parts list available for adding these additional cameras.
